GPS localisation

Definition

GPS location is a process of determining and visualizing the geographic location of an object or person using Global Positioning System technology, usually known as GPS.

Specificities

GPS tracking is done through a GPS beacon, also known as the module, which transmits its report to a network of 24 satellites positioned around the earth. Its geographical position is then calculated. It is presented as latitude-longitude and sent to a server using a SIM card accompanying the tag. A software or application will process stored data and create an understandable visualization of geographic coordinates by placing it on a map.

Thanks to its use of satellites, GPS location is possible in any part of the globe, and even at sea, as long as the person or object is equipped with a GPS tracker.

The use of the SIM transmitter card also allows real-time viewing of the movements or position. This real-time viewing is done through online platforms.

use

GPS location is used by companies to track the movements of a fleet of trucks or motorcycles, and to coordinate their movements as needed. These include freight companies, taxi companies or delivery drivers. Individuals also use it to monitor their belongings (cars, valuables) and their children.
